Schools and Colleges

The Center for Rural Outreach and Public Services provides a variety of value-added services to schools and colleges such as grant writing training and consulting services, youth leadership development and grant writing for teens. Since 2007, CROPS has trained more than 200 students to write grants for scholarships and community improvement projects in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, and Texas. Here are a few highlights of their success:

Five teens won scholarships of $5,000 or more. One teen won a full scholarship for 4 years of college. Two teens won $1,300 in grants from the Indianapolis Colts for a full basketball court and landscaping. Eight teens won $2,500 to start a Boys & Girls Club in Texas which led to $75,000 more in grants. Ten teens won $5,000 for a GreenWorks project in Houston which led to $30,000 more in school grants. One hundred middle school students wrote grants and got Chrome Books for their school Ten college students won $32,000 in grants for nonprofits in the Texoma Region Ten students in Hawaii wrote grants to protect the environment in Hawaii.
