Art of the Dollar - Turn Your Words into Money is a teen grant writing program that aligns with common core academic standards and generates funding for youth led service learning projects. The program teaches teenagers how to find, write and win grants through onsite workshops, day camps, weekend retreats, summer school, and classroom settings via online webinars. Over the past four years we’ve had more than 200 students participate in the program that led to $100,000 in grants for a full basketball court, landscaping and beautification projects, the start up of a Boys and Girls Club and Chrome Books for a classroom. Organizations that have participated in the program include Murrieta Valley Unified School District in Riverside County California (100 middle school students), Erie High School in Erie, Colorado (20 high school students), Bandera-Lake Hills Boys and Girls Club near San Antonio, Texas (15 youth), and Eastwood Academy in Houston, Texas (20 high school students. Currently, CROPS is working with Pend Oreille County Drug Free Communities Program to offer the training to students at the Cusick School District near the Kalispel Reservation in northeast Washington.
In 2014, Art of the Dollar was integrated into our Growing Rural/Growing SMART comprehensive youth development program.
